FISHING REPORTS: FEB 02, 2007
By JOSEPH HARGREAVES
Lake Sonoma

Low, clear and cold water conditions have run off most fisherman, but those who are willing to adapt are catching 5-10 fish per day. How? By throwing rip baits like the Staysee 90, swimming shad colored grubs, or  split-shotting super flukes as slowly as you can bear it on the outside edges of wood cover in the middle of fingers that have sun and wood.

One of my favorite customers, Mr. Beck, has been slamming largemouth in the 2-3 lb. range by focusing on rock structures on the north end of the lake – between 40-70 feet with drop shotted worms and ½ oz. football head jigs in Brown on Brown and Orange w/ a #1 Uncle Josh Jumbo Pork Frog in Natural Crawfish.

He too is fishing as slow as he can stand it and really letting them chew on it before setting the hook. As far as swimbait fishing or Marin County Lakes, we need rain.

There wasn’t much to report on this week, but there will be a supplemental report on Berryessa in the next few days. Keep an eye out for a new  article on pre-spawn bass fishing that’s I the works as well.
