Kent & Alpine Lake
Not a lot of reports this week but I expect good fishing at Kent and Alpine but only at first light or dusk. I would fish Sammy’s or spooks at dawn and spend the day switching back and forth from a dropshot rig to a suspending jerk bait to a Texas rigged super fluke or wacky rigged Senko.

Stafford Lake
Good fishing in the mornings but the lake’s pretty beat up and tough during the day. Senko and dropshots during the day and poppers and frogs in the mornings and evenings should stick a few.

Nicasio Lake
Hot days are starting to take their toll on the fishing at Nicasio as the fish have switched over to feeding mostly at night and of course you can’t fish Nicasio at night. Not only is night fishing banned at Nicasio but the sheriff and the CHP actively enforce it. That said, best bets would be big black worms, buzzbaits, and super spooks during the lowest light periods of the day i.e. just before night and just after night. Target big open water flats with the big black worm and use a brass and glas rig to slowly saturate a good area with lots of repeat casts. Once it starts to feel more like morning than night, throw the buzzbait and spook at a moderate pace covering as much water as is possible. Once the sun is up look for the first deep water break from the flats you’ve been fishing and throw a jig, a deep diving crank bait, or a dropshot. If you can’t find the break throw a Carolina rig with a heavy sinker made of brass or tungsten (1/2 oz-1 oz) a glass bead and 3’ leader of 10# mono rigged with a 3/0 wide gap hook on a Senko, tube, baby brush hog or sweet beaver and start chucking and dragging until you find that rocky rumbly bottom composition that gives it away. Once you know you found a break or ledge you can start fishing slower and more methodically than before using baits like deep diving crankbaits 4-6” swimbaits, jigs and dropshots.
