FISHING REPORTS: DEC 01, 2007
By JOSEPH HARGREAVES
Local fishing reports are becoming few and far between, especially for bass fishing. Most guys either stop trying for bass or they drop fishing all together and start shooting ducks and god knows what else. This doesn’t mean fishing stops or that those who do choose to continue to fish are getting skunked, it just means reports are harder to find and you are best off making a good plan and trying patterns that fit the conditions. Besides, when you react to a fishing report you, at best, catch the tail end of the bite, so go out and create your own great report and please post it on the bulletin board or let me know! If you want to send me your report so I can incorporate it then click Contact Us at the top right of this page and fill out the form – it will send me an email.

Phoenix Lake

Phoenix lake has kicked out 2-3 fish per day in the 1-5 lb. range. The bigger fish hit early morning on small 6# Castaic Platinum Series slow falling trout and blue gill swimbaits, but you have to have a trailer hook because the fish are very sluggish right now. Best retrieves were slow rolling and jerk and pause with long pauses. From the 10am-3pm guys are getting more bites but the fish are smaller and have almost all been caught dropshotting smallie beavers, tiny brush hogs and 3”-4” finesse worms. A couple of guys went out Monday 11/26 from 3-5:15pm and caught a few good fish on ghost minnow pointers.

Kent Lake

I’ve only heard one report from Kent in the past week, but it’s a good one with bass up to 4-5 lbs being caught on Watermelon Senkos, Watermelon Baby Brush Hogs, and deep diving crankbaits on the dam side. I did get 3 or 4 guys who say they are slamming wild trout out of Kent lake in the 16-24” range on worms, Kastmasters (big 1 oz), and believe it or not Chartreuse Powerbait.

Nicasio Lake

I’ve had a couple of Catfish reports but that’s it, so please, if you guys get out their let me know. Even if it sucks and you get skunked, please let me know or post it on the bulletin board, because that’s how I put these reports together.

Stafford Lake

Dropshotting 4” roboworms and dead sticking 4” wacky rigged Senkos or ˝ oz football head jigs on the roadside is producing fish but few of them are over 2 lbs.
